Our guided tour starts from the Meenakshi Temple. As you slowly walk through the narrow streets of Madurai you will get a glimpse of the life in this religious hub. Before reaching the market, you can explore the ruins of Thirumalai Nayakkar Mahal. The textile market, the commercial hub of the city, is well known for its ready-made garments, fabrics and sarees. The produce of the local brass handicraft industry will stun you – it is one of the oldest industries of this town, and still thriving to this day. The beautiful brass souvenirs along the sides of the shops will surely give you an insight into the skill of the local artisans. As you move through the market you may meet the local tailors and artisans who produce the beautiful handicrafts themselves.
