Hanoi – Sapa
Site of Vietnam’s first university
We will start our day with breakfast at the hotel, post which we shall tour the ancient city of Hanoi. Starting with the marble complex that houses the Ho Chi Minch mausoleum. We then move on to the wooden stilt house and the One Pillar Pagoda, which is an iconic temple with very unique architectural features. Temple of Literature is our next stop, which is dated back to the 11th century, is the site of Vietnam’s first university. It has been maintained with beautiful gardens displaying ancient trees and flowers. After this we will head to the Hoan Kiem Lake that is located in the heart of the city, and take a walk in the Old Quarter that is around the lake itself. Most of the boutiques, art galleries, handicrafts and artefacts can be found here. Our city tour will end with a water puppet show, which is one of the most unique performances of Vietnam. Later in the evening we will be transferred to the railway station to board our overnight train to Sapa. Overnight in the train.
Walk to Cat Cat village
We arrive at Lao Cai station early in the morning, from where we will be transferred to the town of Sapa. Stop for breakfast at a local restaurant, and head to the pre-booked hotel. After freshening up we are going to start our exploration by taking a walk to Cat Cat village, which is ten minutes away from the centre of Sapa. The ethnic people here are called Hmong. As we walk through the steps we get to see and observe their daily life unfold. There is a marvellous waterfall in this village where we shall stop to admire and take a break from walking. Post lunch we resume our excursion by climbing up to visit the next villages – Lao Chai and Ta Van. Enjoy interacting with the locals, learning about their culture, and walking amidst the terrace rice fields. Overnight in Sapa.
Sapa – Hanoi
Day with the Red Dzao tribe
Today post breakfast, we will be visiting another village near Sapa called Ta Phin (15kms). The tribe residing here are the Red Dzao’s, and this village is quieter, plus more authentic with mountains, forests, and terrace rice fields serving as the view. We will be taking a walk around the village before heading back to Sapa for lunch. The rest of the day is kept at leisure. Few recommendations for your free time here – you can visit the Stone Church, walk around the town, or simply enjoy a good cup of coffee at a café while enjoying the view of the Hoang Lien Son Mountains. Later in the evening we will be transferred to the railway station for our overnight train to Hanoi. Overnight in the train.
Hanoi – Ha Long Bay
Spend the day cruising
Our arrival in Hanoi will be early in the morning. Post breakfast we will go to Ha Long Bay to board the ship for our cruise. Ha Long Bay is known to be the best natural wonder of Vietnam, and is also one of the most popular wonders of the world. It has been rightly classified as a UNESCO World Heritage site with landscapes of exceptional beauty. There will be a briefing given to all the on board passengers along with a welcome drink. Lunch and dinner will be on board with a delicious set menu. Enjoy the facilities that the ship has to offer. Overnight on the ship.
Ha Long – Hanoi – Hue

Do not miss the mornings while on cruise, as you can enjoy the stunning sunrise on the Bay. Breakfast will be served on board. We will visit the Titop Island, where you can indulge in an array of fun activities. Such as – swimming, and climbing to the top of the top to witness the view of the bay. After lunch we will drive back to Hanoi. En-route we’ll make a pit stop at a village named Dong Trieu famous for its ceramics. Later we will head to the railway station to board our overnight train to Hue. It is the cultural capital of Vietnam, and is very famous for its history, poetry, gregarious people, and delicious food. Overnight in the train.
Cultural capital of Vietnam
Train reaches Hue early in the morning. Once we arrive in the city, we shall get some breakfast first. Then we start our exploration of this culturally rich city. Begin with the Imperial Citadel, a UNESCO World Heritage Site filled with historical significance. We’ll do a rickshaw tour while exploring this regal city. A visit to the tomb of Emperor Tu Duc who is known to have the longest sovereignty of the Nguyen dynasty, will follow. Then we proceed to Tu Hieu pagoda that has been dedicated to the last royal eunuchs of Vietnam, and is located in the midst of a hilly forest in the village of Duong Xuan. And then we take a walk along the popular markets of Dong Ba. The rest of the day is at leisure. Overnight in Hue.
Hue – Danang – Hoi An
Delightful riverside town
In the morning, after breakfast at the hotel, we will drive to Danang, which happens to be the biggest port in central Vietnam. From here we continue our drive to Hoi An, a scenic and delightful riverside town by the Thu Bon River. We will be exploring the Japanese Covered Bridge, built to link the town with the Chinese quarters across the stream. Then we visit the Sa Huynh Museum, which is close to the bridge. Followed by the Tran Family Chapel, the architecture of which is a reflection of the Chinese and Japanese styles. And then the Phuoc Kien Assembly Hall that is a Chinese Pagoda. Overnight in Hoi An.
An archaeological site
Start the day with a good breakfast, and then we drive to My Son Holy Land, a World Heritage Site 50kms away from Hoi An. It is one of the greatest archaeological sites, and in the same league as Angkor Wat in Cambodia. The afternoon is kept at leisure for you to explore the town at your own pace, and while doing that you can relish on the delicious street food. Overnight in Hoi An.
Today is kept entirely at leisure. You can visit the beach or simply relax at the hotel or even traipse through the streets of the town. Overnight in Hoi An.
Hoi An – Danang – Ho Chi Minh City
Economic capital of Vietnam
We begin our day with breakfast at the hotel, then we drive to the airport for our flight to Ho Chi Minh. This is the economic capital of Vietnam, and was formerly known as Saigon. The afternoon will be spent visiting the Notre Dame Cathedral, Central Post Office, and then heading to Cho Lon to pay a visit to the Thien Hau Pagoda. If time permits we can go for shopping in Binh Tay market. Overnight in Ho Chi Minh City.

Learn about the war
Today we are going to explore more of this city. First we drive through the countryside of Vietnam through lush green trees to the famous Cu Chi tunnels. It was built to serve as a protection for the Vietnamese from the French air and ground sweeps during the Vietnam War. They were also used as communication routes, storage for food and weapons, as well as hospitals and living quarters for the guerrilla fighters. A visit to this place allows one to understand and learn about the hardships the people went through during the war. Later in the afternoon you are free to explore at your own pace. A quintessential meal here comprises of a bowl of rice and vegetables cooked in fermented sauce. People show that they’re enjoying a meal by making a lot of noise while eating. The tradition and culture of a nation lies in its festivals that are celebrated throughout the year. Here are a list of festivals you can choose from while planning your travel to Vietnam –
Tet festival: This is a festival celebrated towards the end of January to mid-February, and the dates vary every year. It is the most important one for the Vietnamese people, and is celebrated for 7 days; from the 1st to the 7th day of the lunar New Year. During this time people get together and light firecrackers, feast on a lot of food, and make enough noise.
Perfume festival: The festival is celebrated during the month of February or March depending on the 15th day of the 1st month of the Chinese lunar calendar. It is celebrated in the Perfume Pagoda, which is the most famous Buddhist pilgrimage site. Thousands of pilgrims travel to this cave to pray for a happy and flourishing year.
Phu Giay Festival: This festival is celebrated from the 1st to the 10th day of the 3rd month of the Chinese lunar calendar (March-April), paying tribute to Lieu Hanh, a goddess. A lot of different games are played during this time and folk music performances.
Buon Don Elephant Races: In mid-April, there is an elephant race held in the forests near the Sevepoi River, of Buon Don district in the Dak Lak province. The ethnic group called M’Nong participate in this race and are highly skilled in this sector; the race requires one person to steer and another to handle the speed of the elephant.
Buddha’s Birthday: His birthday is celebrated with much zeal and enthusiasm, in the month of May. Buddhist temples are decorated and devotees come fleeing from all across the nation to be a part of this festival.
Mid-Autumn Festival: It is a festival dated back to 3000 years, celebrated in mid-September. It is celebrated in the honour of a legend named Cuoi, who was left alone on the moon, but wants to come back to Earth. Lanterns of all shapes and sizes are lit in every household, street, and shop. There are also several games, firecrackers, cakes, lion dances, and parades during this time.

The road conditions in Vietnam are quite poor on an average, but improving with time. However, it still differs from region to region – highways are extensive in the southern part; roads are not very accessible in the northern part in the monsoons.
Transport is a very significant part of your trip to Vietnam. We ensure the quality of the vehicles and the drivers are trained to show you the best landscapes, rural life, by the side of highways, and be attentive to all your requirements. The weather is different in every region of Vietnam. Spring (Feb-Apr) and autumn (Aug-Oct) are the best times to visit Vietnam. The temperature is relatively moderate and rainfall is also lighter.

Credit cards & ATMs
There are ATM’s in most of the big cities and tourist spots. They accept most credit and bank cards, which includes Visa, MasterCard, Maestro, Cirrus and several others. Traveller’s cheques are accepted as well, but with a fee. Most of the hotels, shops, and restaurants; especially in the tourist destinations, credit cards are accepted.
Mobile in Vietnam
You have to get a local sim in Vietnam. The three of the best service providers are Viettel, Mobifone, and Vinafone. And getting a sim card here is very simple and easy.
The cuisine in Vietnam is somewhat different in every region, and most regions have a character of their own. In the northern part of Vietnam, the dishes are bland; in central Vietnam, the food is more towards the spicy side; and in the south of Vietnam, they prefer their meals to be sweet. Pho is a type of noodle soup, which is a Vietnamese staple, and a must try!
Dress code in Vietnam is quite simple and casual. Carry comfortable clothes to suit the weather conditions, and not too revealing. While visiting or entering religious places it is advisable to wear proper covered clothes as a sign of respect.
There is no reason for you not to take your electrical items due to electrical outlets; Vietnam markets have adapters you can purchase.

How many beds can we have in a room?
A room will usually have a double bed. Most hotels will be able to add one extra bed.

Some hotels offer interconnected rooms. If they don’t have, we ask them to provide two rooms next to each other or on the same floor.
Can I choose my own set of hotels?
Yes, you can. Just send us your wish list and we will do our best to fulfill your requirements.
What is the category of hotels included in the itinerary on the website?
You will have the option to choose the categories of the hotels you want to stay in. There are a few exceptions, however, some places like villages in Rajasthan or hiking tents in Bhutan will not offer you luxury. We will clearly advice you on this.

Why don’t you offer trips on full board?
We could; however, you will agree with us that everybody has different tastes. Moreover, the local cuisine is also an important aspect of your trip. Why should we charge you extra for some meals in hotels and expensive restaurants, when you can enjoy the spontaneity of discovering restaurants on your own? This is why we intentionally refuse to include all meals in our itineraries. If you are on a safari or a trekking trip, all meals are included as these are remote areas without restaurant alternatives. In lieu of this, you will receive a list of recommended restaurants, where you can have a taste of authentic cuisines.

There are many young kids who aspire to take the job of ‘guide’. We are helping them to speak better English, or teaching them skills and techniques of travel guiding.
Post the earthquake, life is still struggling in Nepal. We are helping some small shops and businesses to get into the mainstream; not by giving money, but improvising some ideas to run their business more effectively.
