Arrive in Hanoi

Day 02


The first university in Vietnam

Let’s explore this charming capital city of Hanoi. We will start with a guided tour of the Temple of Literature, which is also the first university in Vietnam. Then we will visit the Fine Arts Museum, which has some tremendous stone carvings. You will find sculptures depicting animals, gods and people dating back to the fifth century. We can end our day with a visit to Hanoi’s busy Old Quarter where we will take a Cyclo tour: the best place to see and interact with the locals. Small shops, food vendors, coffee shops, almost everything can be found here, and you can explore this place as you like – a great way to immediately get deep into the fabric of Vietnamese culture! We will also visit the Hanoi water puppet theater, which will entertain both you and your children. Overnight in Hanoi.

Day 03

Hanoi – Halong Bay

Cruising on a Vietnamese Junk

Today we will be driving to Halong Bay (3kms/15mins) to board a traditional Vietnamese Junk. We will spend the afternoon engrossed in cruising around Halong Bay’s breath-taking array of limestone islands, rock formations and caves, with numerous opportunities for getting up close. Overnight on the junk.

Day 04

Halong Bay – Hue

Overnight train to Hue

Today, we will continue our cruise of Halong Bay, and pass by many scenic spots along the way, such as Man’s Head Island, Tortoise Island, Toad Island and Bai Tho Mountain. After this, we will leave for the enchanting Luon cave on a small bamboo boat, allowing you to see every detail of this natural wonder. Evening will see us disembark from the junk and take an overnight train to Hue. Overnight on the train.

Day 05


Thien Mu Pagoda

Upon arrival at Hue we check in to our hotel. The day will be spent cruising on the Perfume river and doing some sightseeing along the way. Our first stop will be the Thien Mu Pagoda, which is an active monastery, where we can take the opportunity to see monks and students undertaking their daily activities. Following this, we will visit the ancient tomb of Minh Mang, which is very peaceful and carefully designed with the walls and ceilings still covered in beautiful paintings. In the afternoon we can explore the Imperial Citadel, a place infused with history. Overnight in Hue.

Day 06

Hue – Hoi An

We will drive to Hoi An (a UNESCO Cultural Heritage Site) today, passing by field after field of verdant rice paddy, along with Hai Van Pass, on the way. Later we will drive to the ancient, enchanting Cham ruins at My Son. The buildings date from between the eighth and thirteenth centuries. After this venture into the fabric of Vietnam’s past, the afternoon is kept for relaxation, and you can also take a stroll around the charming riverside town of Hoi An. Overnight in Hoi An.

Hoi An

Traditional bucket boats

An exciting day ahead of us – more for you or the children it’s difficult to say! – as we will get to experience a cruise on the traditional bucket boats, and see the everyday life of the Vietnamese fishermen. Learn about the local fishing communities, and enjoy the fruit of their labors with a fresh seafood lunch afterwards. The afternoon is free to relax and explore at your own pace. Overnight in Hoi An.

Day 08

Hoi An – Da Nang – Ho Chi Minh City

To Ho Chi Minh City

Today we will be driving to Da Nang airport for a short flight to Ho Chi Minh City. We will go via the Cu Chi tunnels to learn about the Vietnam War and the extraordinary guerrilla tactics of the Viet Cong. This evening we will embark on a fascinating discovery of Ho Chi Minh City on a Cyclo tour. Enjoy some delicious street food, local music and experience the city as a local. Overnight in Ho Chi Minh City.

Day 09

Ho Chi Minh City – Mekong Delta

A fantastic home stay

We will be taking a boat trip along the beautiful Mekong Delta today. In the afternoon we will meet a hospitable local family and learn how to make authentic Vietnamese food. We are then invited to have dinner with the family, who will show us around the homestay, share their experiences with us and offer true Vietnamese hospitality. Overnight at the home stay.

Day 10

Mekong Delta – Ho Chi Minh City

Traces of history

Today we will go back to Ho Chi Minh City by boat. In the afternoon we will pay a visit to the War Remnants Museum. It gives a brief history of the Vietnam War as well as the First Indochina War between the French colonial government and the Vietnamese nationalist movement. The museum is filled with a plethora of army equipment that were used in these conflicts. Following this, we will go to the Reunification Palace, which is a landmark monument in Vietnam. Towards the end of the day we go to the popular Ben Thanh market, where you can find plenty of handicrafts and souvenirs. Enjoy sumptuous local cuisine at the eating joints here. Overnight in Ho Chi Minh City.

The tradition and culture of a nation lies in its festivals that are celebrated throughout the year. Here are a list of festivals you can choose from while planning your travel to Vietnam –

Tet festival: This is a festival celebrated towards the end of January to mid-February, and the dates vary every year. It is the most important one for the Vietnamese people, and is celebrated for 7 days; from the 1st to the 7th day of the lunar New Year. During this time people get together and light firecrackers, feast on a lot of food, and make enough noise.

Perfume festival: The festival is celebrated during the month of February or March depending on the 15th day of the 1st month of the Chinese lunar calendar. It is celebrated in the Perfume Pagoda, which is the most famous Buddhist pilgrimage site. Thousands of pilgrims travel to this cave to pray for a happy and flourishing year.

Phu Giay Festival: This festival is celebrated from the 1st to the 10th day of the 3rd month of the Chinese lunar calendar (March-April), paying tribute to Lieu Hanh, a goddess. A lot of different games are played during this time and folk music performances.

Buon Don Elephant Races: In mid-April, there is an elephant race held in the forests near the Sevepoi River, of Buon Don district in the Dak Lak province. The ethnic group called M’Nong participate in this race and are highly skilled in this sector; the race requires one person to steer and another to handle the speed of the elephant.

Buddha’s Birthday: His birthday is celebrated with much zeal and enthusiasm, in the month of May. Buddhist temples are decorated and devotees come fleeing from all across the nation to be a part of this festival.

Mid-Autumn Festival: It is a festival dated back to 3000 years, celebrated in mid-September. It is celebrated in the honour of a legend named Cuoi, who was left alone on the moon, but wants to come back to Earth. Lanterns of all shapes and sizes are lit in every household, street, and shop. There are also several games, firecrackers, cakes, lion dances, and parades during this time.

For most trips, your passport will be enough. It must be valid for up to six months after your return trip. Passports can be easily obtained from your municipality, although there may be delays during holiday periods and holidays. Note that the passport is also required for children. The road conditions in Vietnam are quite poor on an average, but improving with time. However, it still differs from region to region – highways are extensive in the southern part; roads are not very accessible in the northern part in the monsoons.

Transport is a very significant part of your trip to Vietnam. We ensure the quality of the vehicles and the drivers are trained to show you the best landscapes, rural life, by the side of highways, and be attentive to all your requirements. The weather is different in every region of Vietnam. Spring (Feb-Apr) and autumn (Aug-Oct) are the best times to visit Vietnam. The temperature is relatively moderate and rainfall is also lighter.

Credit cards & ATMs

Mobile in Vietnam

You have to get a local sim in Vietnam. The three of the best service providers are Viettel, Mobifone, and Vinafone. And getting a sim card here is very simple and easy.


The cuisine in Vietnam is somewhat different in every region, and most regions have a character of their own. In the northern part of Vietnam, the dishes are bland; in central Vietnam, the food is more towards the spicy side; and in the south of Vietnam, they prefer their meals to be sweet. Pho is a type of noodle soup, which is a Vietnamese staple, and a must try!


Dress code in Vietnam is quite simple and casual. Carry comfortable clothes to suit the weather conditions, and not too revealing. While visiting or entering religious places it is advisable to wear proper covered clothes as a sign of respect.

Electrical outlet

There is no reason for you not to take your electrical items due to electrical outlets; Vietnam markets have adapters you can purchase.

How many beds can we have in a room?

A room will usually have a double bed. Most hotels will be able to add one extra bed.

Some hotels offer interconnected rooms. If they don’t have, we ask them to provide two rooms next to each other or on the same floor.

Can I choose my own set of hotels?

What is the category of hotels included in the itinerary on the website?
